2016 Start with a finish!

I'm starting the year by finishing a quilt!  I free motion quilted around each bow tie and background pieces and tried to do as much as I could with a continuous thread.  I also ran it through the wash once so now it is soft and cozy.  This is for a nieces son who graduated last May yes I am a little late but it took some time to find the right quilt pattern.  He is an elementary teacher and I can just picture a little kid trying to get his attention "teacher, teacher,  Mr K.  Mr K!" then pinching his necktie and giving it a small tug  "Mr K, Mr K"........hence switching to the bow tie in the classroom.  I made a long skinny label with my machine, instead of stacking the information and trying to center each line I just made a continuous line of information.  Time for a new project.  Happy New Year --Ann--  Linking to Patchwork Times Design Wall Monday

  1. What a wonderful quilt! I love all the homespun plaids with the shirtings, so masculine. Your quilting on the little bow ties looks like the normal gathering lines on a real bow tie, great idea! Thanks for sharing all the neat views of your quilt.

  2. Great bow tie quilt! I love how the darker bow ties form the border. Great idea! And your quilting is beautiful.
