New project on the wall. I pulled out all my hand dyed fabrics from almost 20 years ago with thoughts of another quilt. I sorted the brightest fat quarters for that project and I was left staring at the pile of earthier colors. After looking through a couple books this wonky churn dash by Buggy Barn was the perfect choice. Begin by stacking the fabrics and tracing the pattern on freezer paper, pressing again and cutting..... its onto the sewing. I'm just past half done with the blocks. Happily sewing on these hot days. --Ann--

More quilt labels
More quilt labels sewn over the last couple days and the order of pushing buttons has been downloaded into my brain for the time being, I didn’t need to watch the video again. Now I need some chilly days to sit with a quilt on my lap to sew them onto the quilt. Ann

Quilt labels
I’m way behind on making labels for my finished quilts mostly because I need to learn how to use the memory features of my new (last summer) sewing machine. That was part of the class last fall but that was last fall. And I usually can’t remember what was yesterday’s wordle word was. I watched the sewing mastery videos then tried to touch the pad in the right order then watched the video again. I finally got it right! Then I made a list of all the quilts that need labels…..I made a couple more because repetition does reinforce memory… four more to sew. Ann

Sweater finish

Friendship stars
Little goals…..one day it was finish sewing the 30 some half square triangles before lunch and since hubby was off fishing my stomach was the only one to be considered. Then to sew the columns of block parts. Think about border options……middle photo it needs a spacer border before the 4 patches and half square triangles my eyes need a little rest from the quilt blocks to the border. Just little goals over a few days and then I was done. Ann

Small steps
Small steps of progress but I also stayed home all afternoon! It has been hot and humid here so what better place to spend the day than in my sewing room. Ann

More iris
I think the iris were at their peak bloom yesterday when the iris crew was there to work. Many more blooms than last week. We mostly deadheaded and pulled the obvious weeds. They were gorgeous. Ann

Spuddle
Isn't that a great word for not getting anything done! Spuddle......like combining spinning my wheels and muddled or befuddled state of mind. Some days and weeks are like that..........
No projects to show for the last couple weeks but I have helped in the iris patch at McCrory Gardens, part of South Dakota State University. The iris are late this year because spring was so slow to warm into summer. But they are glorious and even more will be blooming this week. --Ann--

Splats
Backside of the quilt, this quilt has been done for months I just haven't made the label because I need to sit down and read the manual and learn how to do it or spend a couple hours at the sewing shop and pay for a lesson. DD picked out the backing and the colors are perfect for the quilt. It compliments the hand dyed and black and white batik fabrics so well. I dyed the fabrics close to 20 years ago they have been aging in my closet waiting for the perfect project, and who more appreciative than darling daughter. The pattern is Twirla by Butterfly Threads Quilting.com. It was fun to sew.....very clear instructions. I barely put a dent in my stack of hand dyed fabrics, I must have dyed 20 yards of fabric.
One of these days I will learn how to punch in the letters and store them in memory in my sewing machine and get the label done and send it home with DD. Until then I'm going to put it on the bed where she sleeps when she comes for a visit. I'll enjoy it every time I walk past her room.
I just swung an arc from point to point in each block. The seams made for an awkward intersection in the middle of the block so I did a little daisy flower in the center of each asterisk, splat isn't that what the younger generation calls them?!?
