Lazy week and the comet

It has been a lazy week here and nothing much to show for it. A dentist appointment, delivering meals, weeding McCrorey gardens, each of which was about an hour a day. What did I do the rest of the week? A little reading, a little fabric cutting for the next quilts, a little knitting just a normal week but nothing finished. I played with the painting apps on my iPad hence the zinnias and basil. I can’t even blame my lack of productivity on staying up late to see the comet. I stay up late every night. Tuesday night I drove north of town a few miles to get away from the city lights, hubby even let me take his new high power binoculars because I never would have seen Neowise without them. It was beautiful! An orb of light with a sparkling tail. Hubby went with me the next night but a little earlier it was not as bright, it was just a fuzz ball and hubby never did find it. The sliver of a moon was spectacular but quickly slide below the horizon. Have a great weekend—Ann—

Beautiful morning

I sit outside and drink my coffee in the morning, it wasn’t hot or humid or windy. It was perfect. I read for a little while then I stopped and watched the birds. Last week it was the green herons sitting in the tree tops but now their nests are empty and the birds have moved on. Today it was the rosy headed house finches and the chirping sparrows. They never stay like long. I watched a hawk soar high above,  it just soared with the breeze and never flapped its wings. The cicadas were silent. It was a perfect morning and then my coffee cup was empty.  —Ann—

another little finish and a beginning...........

I finished some little socks, two pair.
I have been sitting on a secret since Memorial Day weekend, son and daughter-in-law told us they are having a baby in December. It was hush hush. Then a couple weeks later they showed us the ultrasound pictures and they are having twins!  I still feel dazed, dumbstruck, gobsmacked, befuddled, deer in the headlights Wow! I’m going to be a grandma!!  My concentration has been zip lately with the exception of knitting anyway I thought I had baby quilts covered now I need to make twinsie gender neutral quilts because they don't want to know the gender until they are born, there are so few surprises left in life as if twins wasn't surprise enough.  Starting new quilts, starting new knitting projects and they will be small!!  --Ann--

stash buster socks

A little finish last week, I just love using up left over yarn.  Pretty soon the old vase is full of short balls of yarn and they get dumped into a basket then into a tote them some of those small balls get chummy with some other small balls and pretty soon I have the beginnings of a new pair of socks. --Ann--

quilt top together

My last post I said I printed off a photo of these quilt blocks and cut them apart so I could arrange them while we were at the camper............I forgot to pack them...........what with getting other stuff together, food, coffee, clothes, other beverages, oops.  So after stuff was washed and put away....... to the sewing room.  I did play with my little squares a little bit but it was so much easier to see the colors and black and white prints up close so........up and down on the step stool then bend over and pick up the blocks I knocked off the wall.  It was good exercise and I needed some after 4 hours in the car and sitting around all weekend because it was so hot and humid.  Just jumping up and down to get more water or ice and the ice just wasn't chilling the water.  So puttering around with this the past week, its together and after awhile I just say enough, that's the way the blocks are going to be.  --Ann--

Blocks complete

The blocks are completed next to do some rearranging and rearranging and more rearranging.  There are 18 different colors and 6 different black and white prints so it is going to be a challenge to seperate the prints and the colors.  I printed a large photo of these blocks and cut them apart so over the weekend at the camper I can play with my blocks and rearrange things without the use of a step stool and I can take pictures with my phone so I can recreate the arrangement.  Hope you have a safe and happy 4th of July.
