Go Jacks

Our Jackrabbit women won the Summit league basketball championship Tuesday afternoon we were there! The men did not do as well. It was an exciting tournament. The South Dakota State University Jackrabbit fans always show up in mass.

I found and ordered this yarn a couple weeks ago my favorite blue and yellow or more gold, this will be my knitting for the next rounds of basketball. The pattern is Geode and you can find it on ravelry. Contrary to what you may think I was not knitting at the ballgames. Go Jacks!! Ann

Little sweaters

The softest sweetest little sweaters are finished. The knitting part was the easy fun part. Then to do the finish work stitching in the ends, stitching the button holes, they were called forgotten button holes because after you are done knitting you go back and make a hole between stitches bigger then stitch around the opening. That wasn’t so difficult but then to find small buttons to push through the holes was another challenge. Newer buttons are thick. I looked through my jar of antique buttons which are all thin either because that is how they were made or they were worn thin but I didn’t have six that matched and I needed two sets of six.  More fussy work of sewing buttons to hand knit fabric. No coffee until They are all attached.  Ahh finished……—Ann—

Little joys

No this isn’t a post about the grand babies…..While the rest of the country has been in a winter storm the plains of Dakota has enjoyed sunny warm days. I went for a walk a couple of those days. The sun felt so good in my face, I could feel the warmth on my jeans and even the toes of my boots. The neighbors were out walking too, everyone stopped for a little chat.

My cloudberry sweater is finished and blocked.  The gauge swatch shrank a half inch so I knit extra length and it shrank just right. I got carried away on the sleeves, they didn’t shrink as much as I thought but just right to turn the cuff up. I have learned that it is easier to rip and make shorter than to knit extra after it is blocked. Cozy warm —Ann—
