Another small finish

These little bears have been in the basket and on the floor by my favorite sunny spot for weeks then they were on the table for days, parts all over the place. They tried growling at me to finish them but it was more of a mumble since they didn’t have a mouth. I really don’t like mumbling maybe I should fix that. Stitching the ears in place is such fussy work, and I just don’t like sewing knitting together that must be why I always knit top down sweaters and toe up socks. Like so many things once I made up my mind to do it it wasn’t so bad, by the fourth ear it was almost easy. They are less than symmetrical but they are done. I figured out the slickest trick to place the ears…..put the hat on their little stuffed with fluff head…..the ear openings are in the perfect spots! I just love using the leftover bits from other projects this yarn was an extra skein from a sweater then I ran out of yarn fortunately I knit a swatch for the sweater so I ripped the swatch to finish the body of the bear, I figured that would be covered with clothes.

Next to knit a wardrobe for these little bears and they are staying at grandmas house.  Ann

A little time sewing

A bunch of math and then cutting I’m ready to sew. This week is for me! Last week was one obligation after another and none of it blog worthy but those jobs are done for now. I did quite a bit of reading in between commitments. All of a sudden my wait listed books at the library are available three in one week. I only have about 80 of these diamonds to sew for the borders of my star quilt unless my math is way off we shall see.  Ann

Small goals

Just one small thing yesterday…..to cut the squares and triangles and starch the pieces.  That took less time than I thought so I sewed two of the quarter sections together. Today I finished sewing the star together…….that was a big thing either as a goal or the mass of fabric. 76 inches square! Don’t you love it when a plan comes together or a quilt top and even better when the seams intersect with precision. Spray starch is a marvelous tool. Ann

A long bus ride

Hubby and I had the good fortune to get a ride on the bus and reasonably priced tickets to the NCAA division 1 championship football game between our South Dakota State University Jackrabbits and North Dakota State University Bison. Our biggest conference rivalry at the championship game. A first time win for the Jackrabbits and it was a glorious win 45-21.  It was a very long bus ride from South Dakota to Texas so I knit and knit some more, I can look out the window when I knit and carry on a conversation. I don’t like to read in a moving vehicle so I knit 3 and 1/2 balls of jackrabbit gray yarn for a sweater for hubby. It was time well spent. Ann

First little finish

My first little finish of the year! We took a little road trip between snowstorms the road was not good so driving up the interstate at 45-50 mph made for extra knitting time. By the time we got home again I had turned both heels then it was mindless knitting in front of the Christmas tree and television.  The yarn is Opal from the VanGogh collection, colors inspired by his paintings. Just my usual toe-up-two-at-a-time socks. The stitch pattern is R1:k3, p1.  R 2 & 4:  knit.  R3: k1, p1, k2.  The heel is a partridge eye slip stitch. More snow and wind on the prairie. Ann
