37 years

No it’s not an anniversary but it is something to celebrate. It’s only been on my to do list for the last 18 years. Oh! That makes it a bucket list accomplishment.  I finally finished my middle child’s photo books! Yes he is 37 years old, the photos are no longer in boxes they are in books. I did fairly well at putting photos in books the first 4 years of his life then our third child was born and the photos just kept piling up. Oldest son’s photos were put in order for his high school graduation. I had a good start on second son’s for his graduation but then……maybe the sewing machine and quilts were calling me. I didn’t finish the photo books. We moved again another delay. After all these years and how many moves?!? Putting them in chronological order was impossible. I organized them by holidays and events and branches of the family. All his birthdays are together and I could put them in chronological order. First day of school was a two page spread, Easter, Halloween, sports, buddies, Christmas and more. A whole book of just hunting and fishing. It’s finished!!!!  DD’s photo books were compiled before her high school graduation 12+ years ago while we were in a rental and most of my stuff was in storage. I’m done scrapbooking for my kids. No more feeling guilty. Ann

another scrap book

The scrap book was a gift to my grandpa, Dec. 1908.  Its all post cards he received  from family and friends  They are fun to look at no syndicated cartoon characters back then.  --Ann--

Everyday amusements

I have found a half dozen or so scrap books some my mother made as a child and some her mother made mostly of newspaper clippings but also brain teasers and puzzles the very same puzzles you find on social media. There are pages of bird illustrations with an article, she colored the birds with crayons or colored pencils.  The Easter picture she used water color.  I guess scrapbooking is what they did in the evening when they were listening to the radio and there were very few children's books available and who could afford them during the depression years.  Then I flip through the book and see the outline of her little foot and hand with the date and Mickey Mouse, she and Mickey were born the same year.  How do I toss something like that?!?

I remember when my mother was cleaning out grandma's house  and Mom saying many many times "this should have been thrown away years ago."  Did she do it??  No! I get too.  Or not.  Then I have to find a space for it.  Reminiscing --Ann--
P.S. I still have the scrapbook I made with my Grandma back in the early 60's and I will never throw it away.
