One done

The snow is shrinking here some grassy spots have reemerged. I went for a walk after finishing the tummy time quilt top. My reward for the accomplishment the sun on my boots went all the way through to my toes.  I could feel the warmth, happy toes! A cup of coffee reward for the walk then back to the sewing room to sew the backing and the binding. Tidy up the table and put all the leftovers in a bag I’m sure I have enough parts for another tummy time quilt.  On to the next…….Ann

Panic Button

Over the weekend I realized I need to make a baby quilt and two graduation quilts and it getting toward the end of March. Panic. Start with the easy one, a tummy time quilt with bright colors and black and white because babies like to look at bright colors and black and white designs. I cut a few too many pieces….why cut 4 triangles from the fabric when I can cut a 3 1/2 inch strip and have a dozen or so triangles……..put the leftovers in a bag of quilt seeds for the next tummy time quilt. Next to sew all the small corner triangles.  Might snow again a great day to sew.  Ann

Snow Days Show Day

All my activities were canceled on Thursday because of fresh snow which all came sideways. I needed to get motivated to finish this quilt top, king size, all those long border seams. To simplify things I sewed the long strips to the diamond strip, only had to handle each side once instead of three times. Then to sew the corner blocks I forgot how easy it is to sew y seams. I did a couple practice segments to get the measurements right because I wanted to float the star on the background. Easy peasy. This one is going to a professional quilter because it is sooooo big. Snow days can be so productive.   Stay warm   Ann

More snow

Somebody’s kids were sent outside to play and maybe mom and dad helped too. They brought a smile to my face when I was getting supplies and groceries for todays snow.

It’s a good day to read.

It’s a good day to quilt.

It’s a good day to knit.

It’s a good day for another cup of coffee.

It’s a good day to stay home.

It’s a good day…..

Hope you are staying warm.

Go Jacks

Our Jackrabbit women won the Summit league basketball championship Tuesday afternoon we were there! The men did not do as well. It was an exciting tournament. The South Dakota State University Jackrabbit fans always show up in mass.

I found and ordered this yarn a couple weeks ago my favorite blue and yellow or more gold, this will be my knitting for the next rounds of basketball. The pattern is Geode and you can find it on ravelry. Contrary to what you may think I was not knitting at the ballgames. Go Jacks!! Ann

More knitting

Road trip socks are finished Opal yarn from the VanGogh color collection and just a simple knit purl stitch pattern but then isn’t that what all stitch pattern are unless you are doing a lacy or cable pattern. What yarn to use for the next socks and road trip??

Slow progress on a sweater. I’ve only started it three times it’s a cotton bamboo and silk yarn called CoBaSi by Hikoo, a very forgiving yarn in that it didn’t hold the crimp after ripping and rewinding it looked like I had just wound it from the skein. More snow yesterday—Ann—

Busy week

The snow last week a lot has melted but there are piles that will be here until the end of April. We drove up to see the kids again the snow on the hay bails looked like frost mini wheats. I delivered the new stocking caps and mittens the weather was nice enough, no wind, that they went ice fishing and caught three. —Ann—
